KWAZULU-NATAL - An eight-year-old KwaZulu-Natal rape victim has received counselling, the provincial government confirmed on Tuesday.

Social Development MEC Weziwe Thusi visited the child and her family at their home.

Last week, the minor was dragged into a sugarcane field, allegedly by a 15-year-old boy.

The young girl was bitten and had her one eye gouged during the incident.

She then managed to drag herself her home.

Thusi said officials were assisting the family.

“We will also make sure she is looked after when she goes back to school.”
