JOHANNESBURG - From midnight on Tuesday, the price of petrol will break through another record level.

Petrol goes up by 28c a litre from midnight, diesel is up by between 8 and 10 cents.

The Automobile Association's (AA) Gary Ronald said the price of fuel has gone up by more than R2 in the past year.

“For the first time we will be paying well over R12/l for both grades of petrol.”

Ronald said motorists will have to find ways to make their budgets stretch further.

“The impact that this will have will ripple not only through to commodity prices but will also have a negative impact on commuter fares especially taxis and buses.”
