CAPE TOWN - The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) on Tuesday compared labour brokers to human traffickers, who make huge profits by treating workers like commodities.

Hundreds of union members marched to the Cape Chamber of Commerce in Cape Town on Workers Day.

They are demonstrating against labour broking.

The crowds, mostly dressed in red Cosatu t-shirts, were surrounded by police vehicles and a truck.

Demonstrators chanted ‘Amandla’ as they made their way through the Mother City.

Some carried placards that read "Labour brokers pay lower wages, no benefits, no job security."

Cosatu provincial Secretary-General Tony Ehrenreich said they will hand over a memorandum of demands to the Chamber.
