JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks on Thursday said they have not received any complaints from suspended senior prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach.

According to the City Press newspaper, she was shot at while driving home three weeks ago.

She also narrowly escaped being pushed off the road by two motorbikes.

Earlier this week, Breytenbach was suspended from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for her handling of a Kumba Sishen mining rights case.

The prosecuting body said she will face a disciplinary hearing.

But many skeptics believe she was sacked from the NPA because of her involvement in Richard Mdluli saga.

In February, the NPA announced that it would withdraw fraud and corruption charges against the Crime Intelligence boss.

Breytenbach then submitted a recommendation for the decision to be reviewed.

She allegedly pushed for the NPA to prosecute.

Hawks spokesperson McIntosh Polela said a formal case must be opened before they can launch an investigation.

Meanwhile, the NPA said it was disturbed by her revelations and will assist wherever it can.
