The Sports Ministry and the South African Football Association (Safa) on Friday said there was no crisis in the organising of the 2013 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament.
They said no potential host cities had abandoned their bids to host the competition.
Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula said several potential host cities raised concerns about costs.
He said these issues were being addressed.
“We are organising a tournament and we don’t want to embarrass the country. It is important that we get full cooperation from all parties.”
Local Organising Committee head Mvuso Mbebe said Rustenburg, Mbombela and Nelson Mandela Bay had signed the host agreement contracts.
But a few issues still needed to be ironed out.
Safa said it will also look at the issue of ticket prices to make sure that the stadiums are packed.
