Local

The ANC in the Western Cape has called on Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato to step down following claims that the opposition party is in cahoots with underworld bosses.

The MEC made the claims during his budget speech in the Provincial Legislature on Friday night.

Plato claimed top ANC leaders are conspiring with gang bosses and are behind the gang-related violence currently experienced in several suburbs across Cape Town.

The ANC'S Patrick Mckenzie said Plato’s allegations are senseless.

“We want to say we need an MEC whose hands are clean.  Who is not involved with gang lords. There is no way he can continue these negotiations or talks with rapists.”
