The board of Cricket South Africa (CSA) will now have to decide who will chair Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gerald Majola’s disciplinary inquiry after he was suspended with full pay on Saturday.
North West's Jacques Faul will be the acting CEO while Dr Willie Basson will serve as the acting president.
Ray Mali, who chaired the meeting, said the board will meet again at the end of March to decide who will head the disciplinary action.
“The board will be happy if this can be concluded within the next 60 days. It will be with full pay until that process is completed,” he said.
He was asked difficult questions about whether the board was embarrassed or apologetic.
Mali conceded the spirit of cricket had disappeared.
“I agree with you that it has not been there for the last two years. Cricket needs ladies and gentlemen, people who are above board.”
The board did consider whether it should be dissolved, but decided it was up to the affiliates to make that call.
