Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Helen Zille criticised the ANC's second transition, calling it the biggest con perpetrated on South Africans since the dawn of democracy.
Speaking at the party’s Gauteng congress in Pretoria on Saturday, the opposition leader praised and defended the Constitution.
Last week, Justice Minister Jeff Radebe said there was nothing wrong with the ANC discussing changes to the law.
He made the comments during the launch of the ANC's policy discussion documents.
But Zille voiced her concerns about the ANC’s policy direction.
“It is designed to convince freedom-loving South Africans to willingly participate in destroying democracy.”
Zille said the Constitution was designed to protect citizens from power abuse.
The DA leader claims the ANC was launching a full-scale assault on the Constitution.
She said the DA will continue to defend the legislation.
