An ATM supply company said it was never easy preventing attacks on cash machines.

So far, there have been nine ATM bombing incidents across Cape Town in 2012.

Police said all nine incidents are being investigated by the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit of the Hawks.

Currently, no links can be drawn between the attacks.

Only one suspect has been arrested in connection with a blast in Nyanga, last week.

Spark ATM Systems, Marc Sternberg, said authorities are finding it difficult to prevent these incidents.

“It is a very tricky thing. These ATMs are seated into the walls at expensive costs to the banks. Just to move these ATMs is very expensive."

While police cannot confirm whether a syndicate is responsible for these blasts, Sternberg believes this is the case.

"The attacks are well planned and seem to have been carried out by a gang."
