Former president Nelson Mandela is still in hospital and is doing well, Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu confirmed on Sunday.
On Saturday morning, he was admitted to an undisclosed hospital following a long-standing abdominal complaint.
Speaking in Parliament on Sunday, Sisulu gave an official update on Madiba’s condition.
The minister said Mandela was as healthy as can be for his age.
She said the 93-year-old former statesman underwent investigative surgery to determine the cause of his abdominal ailment.
Sisulu refuted international media reports that Madiba underwent emergency surgery.
The minister refused to reveal where Mandela was being treated or what time he will be discharged from hospital.
