Hundreds of ANC members have gathered at the Kliptown sports complex for the party’s centenary celebrations.

Embattled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema will address the crowd.

The speech comes as Malema and other top League officials await the outcome of their mitigation and aggravation of sentence arguments.

At the Soweto stadium, ANCYL members could be seen singing struggle songs as they wait for celebrations to kick off.

Members from different branches across Gauteng arrived at the venue by bus.

Festivities were supposed to have started at 11pm, but there is still no sign of Malema and his executive.

Police are monitoring the celebrations.
