Convicted murderer Jacob Humphreys will spend Christmas with his family.
He was convicted last week on ten counts of murder and four of attempted murder following the Blackheath taxi/train crash last year.
Western Cape High Court Judge Siraaj Desai decided to extend Humphreys' bail after it was revoked following his conviction.
Humphrey’s lawyers argued there was no reason to keep him behind bars ahead of his January application for leave to appeal the decision to revoke his bail.
The state did not put up a fight as an NPA spokesperson previously indicated.
Relatives of the victims were not present.
Humphreys will most likely leave Pollsmoor Prison later on Tuesday.
