Chanelle Henning’s five-year-old son has now been placed into the care of his father.

On Tuesday morning, the 26-year-old was gunned down in Faerie Glen, just moments after she dropped him off at school. Pretoria police are now searching for two men who fled the scene on a motorbike.

The young boy was then placed into foster care.

Henning's parents initially went to court to obtain custody of the boy, but this would have resulted in the boy having to stay in foster care for longer.

Authorities have now placed him into the care of Henning's estranged husband Nico, a wealthy businessman from Hartbeespoort.

The child was placed in Henning's care in 2010 after Nico apparently kidnapped him while the couple was concluding a nasty divorce.

Authorities have questioned Nico, but he is not a suspect at this stage.

No one has been arrested for the murder.
