A social worker on Wednesday told Eyewitness News a girl who was being used as a sex slave may have been trafficked from the Free State.
The girl and several other youths were rescued from a house in Nelspoort near Beaufort West this week, where they were allegedly being sexually exploited.
It all started with a disturbing tip-off to child’s rights activist Euna Wentzel.
“One child’s mother called me the other day and said she heard that her 14-year-old child is involved with a police officer,” she said.
Two policemen and a construction worker have been arrested.
They are accused of being involved in a child sex ring.
The police’s Malcolm Poje said the suspects face multiple charges.
“The suspects will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges of rapes, statutory rape as well as sexual exploitation,” he said.
Several girls, they youngest just 12-years-old, were allegedly being held against their will at the house in Nelspoort.
