Yvonne Chaka Chaka on Wednesday said there have been some important successes made in the fight against malaria but there is still a way to go before the disease is eradicated.
The musician and explorer Kingsley Holgate were both honoured in New York on Wednesday night for their contribution in helping to fight malaria, which the World Health Organisation (WHO) says kills a child in Africa every 45 seconds.
Chaka Chaka said partnerships between the likes of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Nando’s and Unite Against Malaria have played a part.
“For me as a person who goes out there and change people’s mind set I can see progress,” said Chaka Chaka.
Holgate has been using the magic of adventure to educate people. “The reduction in death is now becoming noticeable,” said Holgate.
Chaka Chaka will take part in the Global Business Coalition's 10th anniversary on Thursday where Sarah Jessica Parker and Richard Branson will speak.
