CAPE TOWN - Congress of South African Trade Unions President Zingiswa Losi says workers are reaping the fruits of their struggles.

Addressing thousands of supporters at Cape Town’s Athlone stadium on Wednesday, Losi said progress had been made in addressing worker’s rights in the last 30 years.

She added that May Day was an opportunity to celebrate their many victories in the labour sector, including the country’s progressive Constitution containing laws affirming the rights of all workers.

"Today, workers are reaping the fruits of the struggle. Our Constitution and the Labour Relations Act unashamedly, under the leadership of the ANC, protects the rights of all workers to form trade unions, to collective bargaining and when aggrieved, to strike."
