CAPE TOWN - Democratic Alliance (DA) Western Cape premier candidate Alan Winde says his party aims for an outright majority in the upcoming provincial elections.

In the 2019 elections, the DA received 55% of the votes down from 59% in the 2014 polls.

Some political analysts predict a further decrease in those numbers in the upcoming elections.

The Patriotic Alliance and the Freedom Front Plus have been singled out as threats to the DA’s support in the province.

However, Winde says he's certain of victory at the polls.

"I want 50% + 1, that's the minimum you need to have a majority and that's what we must get, every single vote counts. I think it's a realistic projection."
