The worst of the WC storm 'definitely is over', says provincial disaster management chief
Following two days of rainfall and gale-force winds, the worst of the inclement weather in the Western Cape seems to be over.

CAPE TOWN - Following two days of rainfall and gale-force winds, the worst of the inclement weather in the Western Cape seems to be over.
Provincial disaster management chief, Colin Deiner: "So we just received some really good news and that is that we still have a Level 4 warning for rain but the cut-off low is moving quicker than anticipated, so the Level 4 for rain has been cancelled for Langeberg, Swellendam and Cape Agulhas."

Deiner said, however, that about 60mm of rain could still be expected in the Garden Route.
"So we still have a bit of a situation with a Level 4 today in that area but the worst definitely is over. We are still going to be watching the Overberg quite carefully but the concern then today will just be on the Garden Route and then obviously just on the clearing up of the areas that have already been damaged."
