CAPE TOWN - There's been an uptick in apparent gang violence across Cape Town during the week.

In the latest shooting incident, two men were killed in Lavender Hill on Thursday night, while a man and a woman were wounded.

Earlier this week in Mitchells Plain, a 22-year-old man was killed and four other others sustained gunshot wounds.

The Cape Flats Safety Forum's Lynn Phillips said the ongoing violence was concerning.

“It is so sad, and it is pathetic the manner in which gang violence has escalated in our communities. If you look at the amount of people who are dying, it is mostly the young people - young men, young women. When we grew up, it was always that we need to bury our parents but today the parents are burying their children.”
