EFF's Malema takes swipe at ANC-run eThekwini Municipality over 'sex for jobs' scandal

JOHANNESBURG - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema took a swipe at the African National Congress (ANC)-run eThekwini Municipality over its 2022 ‘sex for jobs’ scandal.
This as he continued on the campaign trail in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, as voter registration got into its last day and ahead of the party’s 2024 elections manifesto launch at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, in eThekwini, next weekend.
In 2022, the eThekwini Municipality found itself at the centre of allegations that a senior official had been demanding sexual favours in exchange for jobs and promotions.
Addressing crowds in KwaMashu, north of Durban, on sunday afternoon, Malema spoke to his party’s plans for the provision of municipal jobs for the youth but said appointments should be merit-based.
"We want you to get jobs in the municipality because you qualify, not because you had sex with someone in exchange for jobs. Because these ANC people demand sex before they give you jobs."
