JOHANNESBURG - Joburg City Power says a surge in vandalisms and theft of its infrastructure in Randburg is causing significant disruptions and wreaking havoc across multiple areas.

The northern suburb has seen a growing trend in substations being stripped of their components, leaving households in the dark for prolonged periods.

The most recent incident has left a community in Randpark without electricity for close to a week

It’s understood that during load shedding criminals ravage parts of the transformer, leaving only it’s empty shell behind.

The outage has left businesses crippled while the primary school opposite the vandalised infrastructure has been battling to continue with lessons, as pupils sit in dark classrooms.
