JOHANNESBURG - A Gauteng man has been sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend and faking her suicide.

The hefty prison term was handed down in the Pretoria High Court sitting in Benoni on Monday after Innocent Radebe was arrested for strangling Thandeka Tshabalala to death.

It’s understood that in 2021, Radebe killed his 20-year-old partner at his home in Duduza and then called the police in an attempt to cover up his crime by staging her death as a suicide.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s Lumka Mahanjana said after the man was convicted of murder and defeating the administration of justice, the NPA welcomed the sentence.
